Are All Water Filtration Systems The Same?
December 13th, 2009
Raza Lansing The reason for using water filtration systems is to filter out contaminants from drinking water. Generally, the process of carbon or reverse-osmosis filtration is employed by the most widely-available systems. When purchasing a water filtration system for your home, check for certification by NSF International, which has instituted the standards, as contained in Brita Water Filters.
What you can do first is test your water so you are aware of what kind of water filtration system your family should have. It will be up to you whether you need a faucet-mounted filter that is inexpensive and quick to hook up but has to have frequent filter changes, or an in-line system, which needs to be attached directly to your water lines. Even though the second system is more high-priced, it is more effective, and hardly ever requires filter changes.
When looking at either system, check out the NSF-certified carbon filter and find out if the test showed good results for eliminating chloroform, pesticides or organic substances, as seen in PUR Water Filters. Carbon filters are not useful for eliminating mercury or other heavy metals, chlorine, or some microbial contaminants.
Get a reverse-osmosis in-line water filtration system in case organic contaminants, fluoride, lead, nitrates, or sodium are present in the findings your water test. Be aware that a reverse-osmosis system produces a relatively small quantity of drinking water while it employs and then discards great quantities of water. If your water’s calcium particulate percentage is high, you’ll require a water softener alongside this system.
Look into a water filtration system that includes a cutoff meter, also called a performance indication device which will inform you with regard to when to change filters.
Aquasana Complete Countertop Filtration System AQ-4000: This patented twin cartridge tap water filter installs in short order on normal kitchen faucets and gives you nearly 30 gallons every hour of pure and clean, great tasting water for use in beverages or food. The Aquasana Countertop system includes the filter container, chrome faucet diverter, dual filter cartridge, easy-to-follow instructions and cartridge purchase forms. The replacement filters cost $48.00, and can effectively work for 6 months or 500 gallons, which costs less than 10 a gallon or $8.00 a month for a readily available spring of safe water.
Puritec Purity UCD-12C Under-the-sink Filter: This water cleanser uses an NSF rated granular activated carbon (GAC) to eliminate over 99% of chlorine and reduce up to 99% of the lead, pesticides, herbicides, VOCs, and benzene, at the same time eliminating unappealing aftertastes and smells. An excellent 12,000 gallon capacity establishes this filter as the most economical water filtration system which you can buy right now. The ceramic pre-filter filters 99.99% of harmful bacteria, as well as spores which include cryptosporidium and Giardia. The UCD-12C provides healthy, pure drinking water while conserving valuable minerals including Calcium, Potassium and Magnesium. This water filtration system comes complete with an uncomplicated installation kit and a stainless steel faucet spigot.

What Do You Need To Know About Portable Water Filters?
November 23rd, 2009
Peter Abertoning Many people are interested in a water filter for their home to ensure safe drinking water. Since our drinking water tends to contain a lot of impurities, such as chlorine and pharmaceutical drugs, water filters can be a great option. They can work to remove all of the impurities and provide you with drinking water that is both clean and safe. If you are interested in a water filter, then you may want to think about portable water filters.
There are some good reasons to consider a portable water filter over some of the other purification systems available.
The major benefit of portable water filters is ease of installation. Of course a portable filter can be taken from one place to another so it needs to be quick and easy to install. And usually they are, often all that is needed is to attach the filter to the faucet and you’re done. Clean filtered water is now available to you to drink.
And usually a portable filter will filter without use of chemicals. Some filters do use chemicals to filter water and if this concerns you then a portable water filter might do the job, without chemicals.
Those who want to ensure that their water remains healthy even after it has been purified will benefit greatly from the fact that these water filters are chemical free.
For anyone who has a holiday house or travels a lot a portable filter offers a good option. You can take them away with you when you go and have clean water to drink when you go away. Be it a hotel, or resort, or some other form of holiday accomodation you’ve always got the option of drinking clean water. And you can even move them from room to room if you need to.
Portable water filters provide many advantages that other water filtration systems are unable to offer. Obviously, much like their name states, they are a great option for anyone who wants a water filter that does not need to stay in the same place at all times.
But when you start looking for portable filters consider exactly what your needs and budget are as there are a wide range of different brands and prices for portable filters.
You can learn much more about water filters at my website where I talk about anything to do with water filtration, including choosing the best water filter.
