Why Owning a Pet Will Make You a Happier Person
March 14th, 2010
Tukakir Hellaos When you are at the mall, do you see people who stroll as if there is a spring in their step? At the office, do you encounter individuals who seem to radiate with a good aura that makes you wonder what they are thinking of? Conversely, when you are at the park, do you feel envious of people who have smiles plastered on their faces? Well, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what makes them seem like they are in seventh heaven. Most probably, their happy disposition is due to their pet.
Whether you believe it or not, having a pet is something extraordinary. This statement is more apt today with the continuing financial turmoil that every person is undergoing today. The bad write ups are always on the front page of local dailies and it’s quite easy to succumb to the gloom. However, to those who have something to keep them away from the pessimism in this world, especially those who have pets, they have managed to feel wonderful and filled with hope.
It has been proven by numerous studies that pets are therapeutic creatures to be with. Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that many hospitals are utilizing this technique.
The following paragraphs spill the reasons why pets can make a person feel blissful. Read on.
First of all, a pet can make his owner feel loved and appreciated. They are loyal, showy with their affection and do not demand much. They do not complain incessantly with what you have to offer. They are content that you feed them, groom them, give them attention whenever you can and bring them to the veterinarian’s clinic when they are not well. At times, they are better than their human counterparts because they do not act clingy. This means that one need not worry about annoying phone calls in the office while in the middle of an important negotiation, nagging messages or hysterical moments.
Second, having a pet improves your self-worth. If you are responsible for someone’s needs, such as their food, physical condition and health, you feel more productive. Being productive can lead to a sense of increased self-esteem. This will show in the way you deal with other people such as your boss, your co-workers, your family and even your neighbors. You have a happier approach to life and the glow that will reflect on your face is simply an outward manifestation of how you feel inside. People will undoubtedly notice it.
Third, a pet will add new friends to your list of contacts. People are naturally social creatures but they become more affable when they see someone carrying a pet. No matter which place you will find yourself in, you will not fail to get attention. Take advantage of this to increase your social networking skills. You just have to go with the flow and talk to total strangers about what you know regarding your favorite pet.
Are you excited to have a pet that can make you happy? Get one now at the nearest animal store.
Being a pet owner is wonderful. But you must notice two things that you need to know about. One is quality pet health insurance because without it your pet is not safe. The next key thing is that using cheap pet meds will damage your pet terminally if you purchase poor quality of medication.

Puppy Teeth Cleaning – What You Need to Know
November 24th, 2009
Geraldine Dimarco Dog teeth cleaning should be something which is done regularly as a part of your pet care routine. If possible, your dog’s teeth should be brushed daily, or least every other day. Dogs are just as susceptible as we are to tooth disease, so it is important to make sure that our dog’s teeth are kept clean and free of tartar.
Dental Health and Your Dog
Diseases of the mouth, teeth, and gums can be very painful for your pooch and because they aren’t able to tell us when they have a toothache, as pet owners we must be diligent in keeping up with our dog’s dental care. If left untreated, a tooth infection may develop into serious complication for your dog and affect vital organs such as their heart, liver, or kidneys.
You dog’s diet has a real impact on their dental health. Dog food and treats which are fortified and made specifically to keep your dogs’ teeth in good shape are a healthy choice for your pet. While you can have your dogs’ teeth cleaned by your vet, this is very expensive and since your dog must be anesthetized for this to be done, can actually be dangerous for your pet! Professional cleaning should only be done in extreme cases.
Getting Your Pet Used to Dog Teeth Cleaning
With patience and perseverance, you can get your dog to become comfortable with tooth brushing. You adult dog or puppy can learn to have their teeth brushed by using your finger and a canine favorite; peanut butter!
Your pet will lick your finger (and the peanut butter). You can start rubbing their teeth and gums while praising your dog. After a few days you r dog will become accustomed to this and you can start trying it with a piece of gauze wrapped around your finger. Rub the teeth and gums with your finger just as you would with a toothbrush. When your dog gets used to this procedure, you can start using a real toothbrush.
Don’t use toothpaste made for people – this will give your dog an upset stomach. Use dog toothpaste instead; these are designed to be appealing to dogs. Let your dog lick some off of the brush, then add more and start brushing.
Lift your dogs’ gums so that you can reach their teeth, especially the canines. Hold the brush at a 45 degree angle for the best result. This lets you clean the gums and teeth at the same time. Brush using a circular motion and don’t forget your dogs’ back teeth, which are more susceptible to disease and decay.
Make dog tooth cleaning time a happy time for your dog. Stay calm so your dog won’t get too excited. It should only take about a minute a day for effective dog teeth cleaning and maintain their good health.
Dog teeth cleaning is important to your dog’s health, and canine teeth cleaning can be done in several ways. So keep your dog’s teeth clean by brushing your dog’s teeth, by a healthy diet, and by adding a canine teeth cleaning agent to your dog’s drinking water. All can play a part in keeping your dog’s teeth healthy.
