FTC Stepping Up Enforcement of Work from Home Opportunities Considered Ripoffs

The Federal Trade Commission is cracking down on get rich schemes and is stepping up its enforcement by filing lawsuits towards various businesses it has deemed against the law.

Even though the vast majority of work from home endeavors are legitimate companies offering entrepreneurs ways to create cash, a number of organizations are currently in the government spot light. While several companies are facing hefty fines for duping unsuspecting people just looking to make a little extra money, there are hundreds of companies still operating.

To give you a good idea of what to look for, here’s a list of types of scams recently targeted by the FTC:

—Recently-developed scams are taking advantage of the high jobless rate by running deceptive ads offering jobs with the federal government that do not exist.

More than 100,000 people were duped by a scam selling booklets giving people “inside information” that could help them get a government job. The actual mailings targeted the elderly and disabled promising effortless positions that paid high earnings available to those people who paid for the booklet.

In another scam, people were told they could earn as much as $500 a week assembling jewelry. They had to pay for materials, then assemble the pins and submit them for payment. The organization rejected nearly all the pins, so no one who signed up for this job ever got paid, but spent hundreds of dollars on materials. Similar assembly jobs have been the target of investigations in the past.

Various other scams offer a list of careers for a fee, including jobs in the entertainment business that require no expertise or specific abilities. You should by no means pay for job listings, as there are many free job listing services online that offer legitimate work. One company actually listed jobs that didn’t exist in exchange for a fee.

The FTC is suing several companies that offered money for stuffing envelopes, labeling postcards, and mystery shopping—all of which were proven to be scams.The fines for these crimes are pretty hefty, ranging from $75,000 to $414,900. While hundreds of thousands of people have fallen for such schemes, you can bet there will be more cropping up in the future.

Be wary of any “job opportunity” that doesn’t sound legitimate, do your homework and ask questions before sending anyone your hard-earned money.

Xango Review: Is It A Scam Or Legitimate Business Opportunity?

XanGo Review: Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Lehi, Utah, XanGo is a private company that has gained fame for its various health and skin care products. Its most famous product is XanGo juice, a mangosteen based product that serves as a nutritional supplement.

Their juice contains mangosteen and other juices, which serve as a nutritional supplement. Eleviv is an herbal supplement aimed at restoring metabolic balance for adult users. Glimpse Intuitive Skin Care is a line of organic skin care products also produced from mangosteen extracts and other natural ingredients.

The corporation has a board of directors, much of which is made of various founders including Kent Wood, Bryan Davis, Joe Morton and Gordon Morton. Other founders, including Aaron Garrity and Gary Hollister serve as executives within the company.

In 2006, founders Aaron Garrity and Gary Hollister were recognized as finalists for an entrepreneurship award from Ernst and Young. The corporation has also been recognized as one of Utah’s Best Places to Work, as well as various awards for the company’s social responsibility and leadership.

Privately held, this corporation does not publicly disclose financial statements, but it is known that product sales have been steadily growing since the company’s inception and that by late 2008, the company’s cumulative sales exceeded one and a half billion dollars.

Since 2006, XanGo has been the official corporate sponsor of the Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake, the professional soccer team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The corporation has also been one of the top monetary contributors to Utah Senator Orrin Hatch and has made grants to a local arts council.

It has taken steps to partner with local and international nonprofit organizations that benefit children’s health and development, and it has committed seven percent of its profits to various children’s charities.

The corporation’s juice products are sold throughout Europe, Asia, the United States and various countries in Central America and the South Pacific, such as Australia and New Zealand. The U. S. Federal Trade Commission has indicated that the juice is sold by more than seven hundred thousand known distributors worldwide.

The juice itself is based on mangosteen aril and pericarp puree, but also incorporates juices and purees from cranberries, cherries, strawberries and raspberries. Despite attempts and appeals, the corporation was not granted a patent on their juice product from the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

It has been the center of controversy over several claims of more than twenty various health benefits. The corporation was also issued warnings from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration for advertising the product as drug.

Watchdog groups and medical organizations have brought into question XanGo’s claims that their juices serve medical purposes for those suffering from disorders like arthritis or diseases such as cancer.

The company was at the center of trademark litigation when Tahitian Noni International sued the company for stealing its ideas for health supplements that use mangosteen byproducts. Some XanGo executives and founders were originally employees for Tahitian Noni International, and are accused of stealing ideas. The companies eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, but not after a countersuit was filed.

There are always new and upcoming companies in the network marketing industry and it is very important to be able to tell the difference between a real opportunity or a scam. There are many cons out there, but at the same time there are alot of very good companies who are really helping people. So when I heard of Ardyss, I decided to really check them out to see if they were the real deal.

Ardyss offers a few different types of products. They mainly do body reshaping garments but also offer nutritionals and skin care products as well. This is amazing technology that sounds farfetched since there are other products that are similar to this one. The first thing that came to my mind was Spanx. So I dug a little deeper and spoke to a few people that have tried their product and got some surprising responses. Almost all the people I spoke to about Ardyss Body Magic swears by the product. It really does drop 2 to 3 sizes as soon as you put it on, and it is not a temporary fix especially if you use it the way that is instructed.

This along with a very powerful and lucrative comp plan that rewards associates for getting out there, and spreading the business to serious entrepreneurs that want to make a difference to their life, makes Ardyss a solid business model. A real business, with real products that combines health and wealth. What more could you ask for?

But is it really all that peachy? Not really. The reality is that network marketing is a great business. And it does have the potential to make more millionaires than any other industry, but it is important to understand that a good product and compensation plan will not guarantee success. Is Fair Trade Coffee Just A Marketing Ploy?

It’s time to set the record straight about fair trade coffee and other products that are grown and harvested under the Fair Trade Commission. Since we all know that buying products which support fair pay, good conditions, and potential for growth is high on our social conscious, we want to ensure we don’t financially support companies that don’t offer these things.

The Fair Trade Commission was developed for the purpose of ensuring that the purchases made through their mandate were based on fair pay and good working conditions. This has become essential for the development of many cultures.

The talk that the fair trade products are nothing more than marketing ploys to get those who can afford it to pay more for a bag of coffee is really not based in reality. There are not guilt methods to the marketing, just the passing along of general information about what the fair trade seal really means. In retrospect, these coffees are not necessarily any more expensive than the coffee you already buy.

An average person does want to make a difference in the world. And they are very happy to believe that by just choosing one brand of coffee over another is a way to make a difference without having to leave the comforts of their homes or their lives.

We all know that our environment, and many of the world’s people have been harshly abused for decades and centuries. We know that when we purchase the marketed goods that are made by workers in developing countries we are supporting their own autonomy. Believing in the good of the sale and knowing are said to be two different things.

The truth is, is that this is not a marketing ploy. For years, the Fair Trade Commission has been trying to make a difference in the way workers have been treated. They have been striving to help the small, private farms and villages make a profitable living. And the Commission has helped to educate farmers how to keep the land healthy and profitable for future crops, without any further damage to the land, water or animals that surround their growing fields. What Is Multi Level Marketing?

The term multi level marketing or MLM is commonly used by certain companies to promote their products or services. It is also commonly referred to as ‘network marketing’ or ‘referral marketing’. The strategy employed by individuals employing this system is often called ‘word of mouth’.

Commonly referred to as network marketing or referral marketing, it is a very simple and can be effective way of making money for the average person. The way that the system works is that individuals sign up to promote the company and to sell their products independently. They are able to gather their own customers and recruit their own ‘distributors’ who become part of their ‘downline’ or team.

These representatives do not get paid in a salary or wage by the company, but through a commission structure set out by the business. Not one will you get paid commission based on your own personal activities in gathering customers and selling products, but also through the actions of those you have recruited. The more you recruit, therefore, the more you can earn.

Commission are paid out through the companies compensation plan which will reward busy and hard working distributors with bonuses and different promotional ranks. These will depend on their level of activity and will help offer incentives to help new distributors get off the ground.

However, there are those who see the companies who employ network marketing in a negative way, believing them to be overly driven by recruitment and not by actually sales. Yet for many companies, this form of recruitment will generate great sales depending on the products and services they offer. There are also unfair comparisons to pyramid selling which offers no tangible products whatsoever. For these reason MLM has often received negative attention.

Despite these negative outlook however, there is good money to be made through an MLM company. They can offer part time distributors a great way to make some additional income through as much or a little activity as they can afford to commit to. For those willing and able to put in extra time, with the right company, big money can be made.
