Love and Peace Will Help You Live Longer
January 7th, 2010
Jamie Brown This day in age, people are turning to religion in droves. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism has embedded it’s ideology in the hearts and minds of millions globally. While all these religions deserve respect and tolerance, few in the west have a grasp on the complicated concept of Buddhism.
The end all and be all of online encyclopedias, Wikipedia grabs the first slot on a Google search for the term Buddhism and the breakdown reads like this: “Buddhism is a religion and a philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha (Pali/Sanskrit “the awakened one”). The Buddha lived and taught in the northeastern Indian subcontinent sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.
He is recognized by adherents as an awakened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering, achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth. Buddhism is traditionally conceived as a path of liberation attained through insight into the ultimate nature of reality. Two major branches of Buddhism are recognized: Theravada (”The School of the Elders”) and Mahayana (”The Great Vehicle”). Theravada, the oldest surviving branch, has a widespread following in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, and Mahayana is found throughout East Asia and includes the traditions of Pure Land, Zen, Nichiren Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Shingon, Tendai and Shinnyo-en. In some classifications, a third branch, Vajrayana, is recognized, although many see this as an offshoot of the Mahayana. While Buddhism remains most popular within Asia, both branches are now found throughout the world.
Various sources put the number of Buddhists in the world at between 230 million and 500 million.” After living abroad in Asia for several years I have found that Buddhist cultures are more tolerant because the focus is on the ’self’ and the meditation on the calming of the mind, concentrating on controlled breathing and the idea that meditation to bring one closer to peace is central to discovering one’s self.
If you have the opportunity to investigate the practice of Buddhism, I would highly recommend it. I’m not saying to take up the path and convert to a religion but the calming affect that is central to this religions concept will bring a peaceful serenity to your life that you may find useful. All in all respect and tolerance for all religious perspectives is something that people are beginning to make a conscious effort to practice and understanding ideas from various religions can teach us an appreciation that can bring us all closer together.

Get Your Ex Back – Advice on How to Get Them Back Quickly
November 14th, 2009
Maxwell Durden If you need some advice on how to get your ex back, then you’re not alone. While I’m sure that there are some amazing success stories out there, the fact of the matter is that most of us just don’t end up with our first boyfriend or girlfriend. And you know what else? Most break ups aren’t all that clean, either. Usually, one person wants to get back together with the other.
The first step in figuring out how to make your ex come back to you is to take a step back and figure out why people break up to begin with, especially if they were happily together once.
And yes, the common reasons for breaking up tend to differ in both men and women. However, there are similarities as well. Let me go ahead and break it down for you by gender, just so that we’re on the same page.
Men tend to leave women when they do not feel respected or when they do not feel that they have masculine appeal to their woman. Basically, a man has a sensitive ego, and if he does not feel like a manly man… then he will begin to distance himself from a relationship. He’ll even do this subconsciously.
Conversely, women also need to feel like women. But women are not so ego-centric as a man. Instead of constant respect and admiration, a woman needs a sense of appreciation and feeling special, sort of like a priceless heirloom or a treasure. She needs to feel like a princess or a queen to feel secure in a relationship.
Your ex probably already gave you a reason they do not want to be together, and chances are it was vague, confusing, and had little to do with what I just talked about. Allow me to explain.
Humans are “retro-psychological” creatures, meaning that 90% of the time we base our actions purely on our emotions. However, because acting on your emotions is not always acceptable in this society, we often rationalize our behavior by making logical-sounding excuses. That is why the “reasons” that your ex gave you are not only confusing, they are also probably misleading and untrue.
Don’t take the reasons your ex gives you for wanting to break up at face value. Instead, you just have to stay focused on your goal. You want your ex back? Let me tell you what your plan should be, in a nutshell.
To get started towards getting your ex back, the key is to repair damage that has already been done. Basically, you have to stop doing the wrong things and start doing the right things. Sounds simple enough, right?
