Green Ergonomics For Your Office Renovation

The term Climate Change has been more frequently used in present day conversations than twenty years ago. Sociological Studies suggested that as Society becomes more complex, so is its Language. This just tells us that the usage of new words or phrases as topics depends on its evidence in that society. In connection with the present, the idea that Sociology has propounded is valid. The concept of Climate Change has truly grown more evident now in our contemporary society.

In the past, we often thought of little changes around us as unimportant matters unworthy of our time. The hustles and bustles of life inadvertently shadowed these serious problems that now, we are afflicted with. We even thought of those Scientists who assiduously coordinate forums about its risks as absurd people; but the truth is, they are the true illuminators. They shed light to the things that we have been ignoring for a long time. There have been actions to battle this apparently minutiae problem, but still, they are not enough. We must think that problems facing the world will not be solved if only one symptom is healed; a holistic healing is definitely needed.

Though we continue deluding ourselves into thinking that the world matches our ideal vista, the truth will always hit us with a tsunami (literally). Climate change is hard to combat. That is why the more rapid it changes its pace (often faster and to our danger); the more combative we must be in order to prevent it. Since the current Climate Change talks are centered on business (particularly factories and industries), why don’t we stretch its scope into its other parts, the offices. In this nook, a green-minded concept is offering its help- Green Ergonomics.

What is green ergonomics? Green Ergonomics is a coined-term which stands for the study of workplace intended for the comfort and efficiency of workers infused with social responsibility on the environment. To start the workplace renovation, the changes that may be prominent in a green workplace are the following:

1) Plants! – Buildings may drop the humdrum in their designs by adding plants as ornaments to its walls and to its other parts;

2) Environment friendly office supplies- The materials that may be used are those made out of recyclable materials which are environment friendly in all its fibers;

3) Appliances- The use of low energy consumption (or those that use other sources of energy such as solar, wind, nuclear) is not just beneficial to the environment but also to the production costs of the company.

These are just few of the examples. We can still immerse ourselves on research and come up with new ones. Besides, if Necessity and Passion are present, an invention will surely come out. This may also be reached through the initiative of both the private sector and the government of any society. The government, to encourage such activities, may pass a mandate that states a reinvention of present workplaces into a “green workplace”. It is also an reward for the company practicing green ergonomics for it transmits a message to its customers (and would be customers) that it exercises Social Responsibility.

Our solution to the ginormous Climate Change problem may be deemed small; but still, if it can help, it is sufficient to be called valiant. We are the inhabitants of this precious planet. No one else will take care of her but us. So as her children, may we all find solutions in our respective fields and hope for her recovery. If we are successful, we have not only found her cure, we also added a new word to our diurnal conversations. That word/s may be the word of the year and the elixir of our planet’s illness. It is none other than the green-minded concept, Green Ergonomics.

DIY Home Renovation Mistakes

A home remodeling or renovation project is not as simple as it may sound. Renovating a building is not simply all about how it will look or function, but most significantly you have to consider what type of materials are utilized during the renovation, how are you going to work with your suppliers and contractors, etc. These of course will be covered by the person who will manage the project. Thus before a renovation project starts, one of the most vital decisions to be made is who will manage the project.

You can either engage a professional who will do the work or alternatively, you can handle the project yourself. If you choose to manage the work yourself, make sure that you have enough experience to deal with this. According to Gail La Grouw, the following are some common mistakes done by owners who have decided to take on the role of managing the renovation project themselves,

1. Inadequate Planning

Creating a good plan is a important part of your role as a project manager. The success of the project largely depend on this. Your plan must include as much detail as possible. You have to regard planning for contingencies as well.

2. Poor Materials Management

Buying of the appropriate materials at the right time is a large task during renovation. Think about this task properly, as it can be the reason of delay to your schedule. You can also get additional cost if you do not have your materials at the right time.

3. Poor Record Keeping

File everything especially matters that have to do with funds. Record keeping must be completed everyday. You surely will leave out something in your list if you do it in an inconsistent way. Record keeping will also let you know precisely where you are in terms of time and dollars against the plan specification.

4. Not Managing The Work Site

Most subcontractors are trying to reduce cost by ignoring a number of rules and workplace safety items. This is a bad thing of course. Make sure that there is a proper insurance for their area of work.

5. Poor Communication

As home owners are not that knowledgeable with terms being used for renovation, miscommunication can occur along the way. Make sure that when you do not understand things, clarify it, but never loose your authority in front of your contractors of course.

6. Poor Change Management Control

All changes made during the renovation process must be documented and sign off.

7. Not Keeping Check of the Budget

Watch your budget, as most projects will overrun the initial estimate, make sure to add some percentage of your budget for your contingency plans.

Why the Soap Dispenser Makes Sense

For all our lives, we’ve been reminded of the importance of keeping clean and washing our hands to eliminate germs. We’re not going to talk about the benefits of doing this, as it’s common knowledge at this point.

While soap has its obvious uses, a soap dispenser is one of those devices that many simply see as an optional accessory. While this may be true, there are so many reasons to get one considering their low price point.

Soap dispensers can be found in almost any commercial bathroom, but many people are choosing to use them in kitchens and bathrooms at home due to their attractive features.

The convenience factor is the biggest selling point when it comes to the soap dispenser. These are quintessential in public bathrooms, but very useful in homes too. Since people have shied away from bar soap in favor of foams and liquids, the dispenser lends itself perfectly to this method of hand washing.

The soap dispenser in the kitchen and bathroom is becoming increasingly popular, and the decorative qualities of them can really warm up a room. Wall mounted soap dispensers make a true decorative statement and look great.

Parents will take joy in the fact that a soap dispenser will make it easier for their children to wash their hands. If you fill a dispenser with some fun soap, your kids will look forward to using one.

If you buy a soap dispenser, you’ll be far more likely to buy soap refill bottles instead of the standard ones. This could end up saving you hundreds of dollars over a number of years.

As you can see, the soap dispenser can be fun, decorative, and economical all in one. Consider buying one for your home.
